Objectives: This retrospective study aimed to investigate the feasibility of surgical closure of ventricular septal defect in children with trisomy 18 by assessing perioperative events and long-term survival.
Methods: From April 2008 to March 2024, 41 consecutive patients were referred to us for ventricular septal defect surgery. The defect was closed in 35 patients at the end (median age, 16 months; median body weight, 5.

Primary Care is the first point of contact for most patients after the onset of symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Establishing an initial diagnostic process based on compatible symptoms and agreed criteria and referral pathways, depending on the degree of suspicion and the patient's situation, can reduce diagnostic delays. Once the patient is referred to the Digestive specialist and the diagnosis of IBD is established, a treatment and follow-up plan is structured.

Locked-in syndrome is a rare neurological disorder. It is characterized by tetraparesis, paralysis of facial and masticatory muscles, anarthria and pseudobulbar syndrome with possible preservation of vertical movements of the eyeballs and blinking, as well as preservation of consciousness. A serious problem with the «locked-in person» syndrome is the inability of the patient to socialize, which causes him to experience no less suffering than from physical limitations.

The ferroelectric tunnel junction (FTJ) is a competitive candidate for post-Moore nonvolatile memories due to its low power consumption and nonvolatility, with its performance being strongly dependent on the conditions for contact between the ferroelectric material and the metal electrode. The development of two-dimensional materials in recent years has offered new opportunities such as functional metal layers, which is challenging for traditional FTJ systems. Here, we introduce the newly discovered ferroelectric metal WTe as the electrode to construct WTe/α-InSe/Au ferroelectric semiconductor junctions.

The vasodilator hydralazine (HYZ) has been used clinically for ~ 70 years and remains on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines as a therapy for preeclampsia. Despite its longstanding use and the concomitant progress toward a general understanding of vasodilation, the target and mechanism of HYZ have remained unknown. We show that HYZ selectively targets 2-aminoethanethiol dioxygenase (ADO) by chelating its metal cofactor and alkylating one of its ligands.
