Monoclonal antibodies specific for equine IgG sub-isotypes including an antibody which recognizes B lymphocytes.

Vet Immunol Immunopathol

August 1995

Department of Medical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin, Madison 53706, USA.

Equine immunoglobulin G is currently classified as consisting of five sub-isotypes: IgGa, b, and c, IgG(T), and IgG(B). The study of the role of these immunoglobulins in antigen-specific responses, and the examination of their functional properties would be greatly facilitated by the availability of monoclonal antibodies (Mabs) that distinguish between them. The production and characterization of two Mabs that recognize an IgG sub-isotype with the characteristics of IgG(ab) is described.

Serum antibody profiles of Sarcoptes scabiei infested or immunized rabbits.

Folia Parasitol (Praha)

April 1995

Department of Biological Sciences, Wright State University, Dayton, OH 45435.

The circulating antibody profiles of rabbits infected or immunized with Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis were compared. Crossed immuno-electrophoretic analysis showed that infested hosts produced serum antibody to 12 proteins (antigens) in an extract made from sarcoptic mite bodies.

[Characterization of vitellogenins and vitellines in Ceratatitis capitata (Diptera, Trypetidae): electrophoretic and immunoelectrophoretic study].

Arch Inst Pasteur Tunis

July 1987

Départment de Protection des Végétaux, Institut National Agronomique de Tunis.

Electrophoretic study of haemolymphatic proteins in Ceratitis capitata has allowed to establish a proteic sexual dimorphism in this insect. This consists in a proteic fraction which is specific to the male and which appears at the imaginal ecdysis and stays during all the imaginal stage and in 3 other fractions which are characteristic to the female. Immuno electrophoretic study showed that these female proteins could be considered as vitellogenins.

In all egg laying vertebrates, synthesis and use of vitellogenin (Vg) are intimately bound to the active phase of reproduction. In the liver of the rainbow trout (Salmo gairdnerii), Vg synthesis is influenced by estradiol (E2) which, we believe, acts through the classical mechanism of steroid hormone action. After binding of the hormone to a soluble specific receptor protein, the estradiol-receptor complex can interact with chromatin and modulate the expression of Vg genes, leading to increased synthesis of specific mRNA and Vg.

The present publication reports about the delay of the rejection by unspecific medicamentous immuno suppression. This is the continuation of our earlier publication about the unaffected primary rejection of xenogenic kidney transplants in the closely related system fox - dog. The combined application of azathioprine and prednisolone leads to elongated function times of the kidney transplants and to the duplication of survival times of the recipients.
