Sibal, Louis R. (University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago), Arthur V. Kroeger, Dan Kumarich, and Esther Meyer. Serological specificity of acid-soluble antigens of Bacterionema matruchottii. J. Bacteriol. 83:811-818. 1962.-The serological specificity of acid-soluble antigens extracted from the oral, filamentous organism, Bacterionema matruchottii, was demonstrated by the microprecipitin reaction. There was no evidence of cross-reaction with antisera prepared against Leptotrichia buccalis, Actinomyces, or Lactobacillus species, and these results were confirmed by quantitative complement-fixation tests with selected antisera. Since all of the B. matruchottii isolates studied possess antigens in common, it was concluded that the microprecipitin reaction offers a useful aid in the differentiation of this genus from other filamentous organisms. The results do not provide definitive evidence regarding the taxonomic relationship of B. matruchottii to any genus tested, and tend to support the recent proposal for establishment of a new genus, Bacterionema. Preliminary data obtained with the indirect fluorescent antibody technique appear to indicate that the antigens of the intact bacterial cell are as specific as the acid-soluble extracts.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by persistent inflammation of the synovial joints, leading to cartilage and bone destruction. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic utility of specific microRNAs (miRNAs) as potential biomarkers for RA. The study was conducted on 60 patients with RA disease along with 20 control participants.

Objective: The objective of this study was to rigorously investigate and elucidate the genetic mechanisms underlying the formation of the RH blood group in a specific case and to systematically analyse the RH blood group genes among the family members of the proband.
Methods: Serological methods were used to determine the RH blood group phenotype of the proband. To elucidate the underlying genetic mechanism responsible for the RH phenotype, a comprehensive approach was undertaken, including RHCE genotyping, sequencing of RHD and RHCE genes, and exon sequencing of RHAG.

Early detection of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is crucial for eliminating this silent killer, especially in resource-limited settings. HCV core antigen (HCVcAg) represents a promising alternative to the current "gold standard" HCV RNA assays as an active viremia biomarker. Herein, a highly sensitive electrochemical magneto-immunosensor for the HCVcAg was developed.

Methods: Eighty rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and forty healthy controls were included in this case-control study. Of these patients, forty had ILD, and forty without ILD.
