A young man in his late 30s with a history of pulmonary tuberculosis presented with complaints of hoarseness of voice persisting for 6 months. Chest auscultation revealed diminished breath sounds over the right lung field. An initial chest X-ray showed collapse of the right lung with mediastinal shift towards right.

The acoustics of cervical auscultation of swallowing, a potential objective tool for the swallowing assessment, has been explored in normal subjects. However, there needs to be more literature profiling the same in individuals with swallowing problems. The study estimated the acoustic features of swallowing sounds in individuals with swallowing and voice problems and compared them with the previous reported findings in literature.

Background: Cardiac disorders are found in about half of cases of Noonan syndrome (NS). The most common congenital heart diseases in this syndrome include pulmonary valvular stenosis obstructive or nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (17%). Biventricular hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is very rare in this condition.
