Actinomycotic mycetoma is frequent in Senegal and the treatment has changed greatly over the last decades. We observed 27 cases due to Actinomadura pelletieri (n = 21), Actinomadura madurae (n = 5) and Streptomyces somaliensis (n = 1). The diagnosis was based on clinical and histological arguments.

Mycetomas of the hand are a rare site of an uncommon disease, particularly in temperate climates. They are non-purulent inflammatory pseudotumours of mycotic origin. They are generally seen in Tropical Africa with a slow course progressing towards a phase of cutaneous fistula formation producing black, white or red grains depending on the fungus responsible.
