Telephone follow-up on Medicare patient surveys remains critical.

Am J Manag Care

January 2025

RAND, 1776 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90401. Email:

Objectives: Patient experience surveys are essential to measuring patient-centered care, a key component of health care quality. Low response rates in underserved groups may limit their representation in overall measure performance and hamper efforts to assess health equity. Telephone follow-up improves response rates in many health care settings, yet little recent work has examined this for surveys of Medicare enrollees, including those with Medicare Advantage.

Background: Self-reported health problems following severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection are common and often include relatively non-specific complaints such as fatigue, exertional dyspnoea, concentration or memory disturbance and sleep problems. The long-term prognosis of such post-acute sequelae of COVID-19/post-COVID-19 syndrome (PCS) is unknown, and data finding and correlating organ dysfunction and pathology with self-reported symptoms in patients with non-recovery from PCS is scarce. We wanted to describe clinical characteristics and diagnostic findings among patients with PCS persisting for >1 year and assessed risk factors for PCS persistence versus improvement.

Background: Despite their prominence in the sport and human movement sciences, to date, there is no systematic insight about the development and content of movement quality assessments in athletic populations. This is an important gap to address, as it could yield both practical and scientific implications related to the continued screening of movement quality in athletic contexts. Hence, this study aimed to systematically review the (i) developmental approach, (ii) movements included, (iii) scoring system utilised, and (iv) the reliability of movement competency assessments used in athletic populations.

Continuous local infiltration analgesia is equal to femoral and sciatic nerve block for total knee arthroplasty.

Department of Anaesthesia, Main-Kinzig-Kliniken, Herzbachweg 14, 63571, Gelnhausen, Germany.

Background: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is associated with moderate to severe postoperative pain. Pain control is crucial for rapid mobilisation and reduces side effects as well as the length of hospital stay. In this context, a variety of multimodal pain control regimes show good pain relief, including several nerve blocks, iPACK and local infiltration analgesia (LIA).

Departamento de Atención a la Salud, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Xochimilco, CDMX, Mexico.

Identify the association between multimorbidity and depressive symptoms (DS) with self-reported health (SRH) and life satisfaction in a national sample of Mexican ≥ 50 years older adults. Data are drawn from the Mexican Health and Aging Study (MHAS), a cross-sectional study conducted in 2018 involving 14,230 older adults aged 50 years and older living in urban and rural areas of Mexico. Depressive symptoms were measured using the Center for Epidemiological Studies depression scale (CES-D) and life satisfaction using the Life Satisfaction Scale (LSS), examined both as a categorical and continuous variable.
