Computational approaches of modelling human papillomavirus transmission and prevention strategies: a systematic review.

J Biol Dyn

December 2025

Modelling and Simulation Research Group, School of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering, The University of Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the world. Persistent oncogenic HPV infection has been a leading threat to global health and can lead to serious complications such as cervical cancer. Prevention interventions including vaccination and screening have been proven effective in reducing the risk of HPV-related diseases.

Epstein-Barr virus (+) mucocutaneous ulcer (EBVMCU) is an uncommon benign lymphoproliferative lesion that develops in immunocompromised patients. We present a special case of EBVMCU located in the peri-implant mucosa and we review the oral cases published to date. An 88-year-old man with no medical history of interest was attended in the dental clinic due to an ulcerated tumor located in the peri-implant mucosa.

Objective: We attempted to evaluate the immediate high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion-cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2/3 or worse (HSIL-CIN2+/3+, hereafter referred to as CIN2+/3+) risk of specific human papillomavirus (HPV) genotype and form the precise risk-based triage strategy for atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US) women.

Methods: The clinical data of ASC-US women who underwent HPV genotyping testing and colposcopy were retrospectively reviewed. The distribution and CIN2+/3+ risks of specific HPV genotype were assessed by three approaches.

Spatial and Temporal Tumor Heterogeneity in Gastric Cancer: Discordance of Predictive Biomarkers.

J Gastric Cancer

January 2025

Department of Pathology, Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a highly heterogeneous disease that varies in both histological presentation and genetic characteristics. Recent advances in the treatment of metastatic and unresectable GC have made several biomarker tests essential for patient management. Predictive biomarkers such as human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), mismatch-repair (MMR) proteins, claudin 18.

Objectives: Given the ongoing challenges regarding the specific roles of viral infections in cancer etiology, or as cancer co-morbidities, this study assessed potential associations between anti-viral, T-cell receptor (TCR) complementarity domain region-3 (CDR3s), and clinical outcomes for ovarian cancer.

Methods: TCR CDR3s were isolated from ovarian cancer specimens for a determination of which patients had anti-viral CDR3s and whether those patients had better or worse outcomes.

Results: Analyses revealed that patients with exact matches of anti-Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) CDR3 amino acid sequences exhibited better outcomes for both overall and disease-specific survival.
