Objective: This study explores the influence of social network structures on self-management behaviors among older adults with diabetes in rural Korean villages, focusing on dietary management, physical activity, and blood glucose monitoring.
Design: Employing social network analysis (SNA), the study assessed network structures in three villages, focusing on variations in degree, closeness, and betweenness centralities to understand their impact on health behavior dissemination and adoption.
Results: The analysis identified significant differences in network configurations across the villages.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major metabolic disease endangering global health, with diabetic nephropathy (DN) as a primary complication lacking curative therapy. Sporoderm-broken spores of (GLP), an herbal medicine, has been used for the treatment of metabolic disorders. In this study, DN was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats using streptozotocin (STZ) and a high-fat diet (HFD), and the protective mechanisms of GLP were investigated through transcriptomic, metabolomic, and network pharmacology (NP) analyses.

Introduction: Sweet potato is an important food, feed and industrial raw material, and its tubers are rich in starch, carotenoids and anthocyanins.
Methods: To elucidate the gene expression regulation and metabolic characteristics during the development of sweet potato tubers, transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses were performed on the tubers of three different sweet potato varieties at three developmental stages (70, 100, and 130 days (d)).
Results: RNA-seq analysis revealed that 16,303 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were divided into 12 clusters according to their expression patterns, and the pathways of each cluster were annotated.

Objective: This study analyzed the changes in blood glucose and lipid metabolism levels in children with central precocious puberty (CPP) and the correlation between CPP and obesity.
Methods: In total, 88 children with CPP aged 6-10 years who were admitted to our hospital between January 2023 and June 2024 (the CPP group), and 88 children without CPP in the same age group who received health check-ups (the non-CPP group) were retrospectively enrolled in this study. General data [gender, age, bone age, and body mass index (BMI)] were collected.

Background: Postprandial glucose concentration 1-h (1 h-PG) after an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) has similar or superior performance to 2 h-PG in predicting type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in several populations, and is simpler to obtain in clinical practice. However, studies in Asians are scarce. We investigated the utility of elevated baseline 1 h-PG in predicting T2DM incidence within three years, and its relationship with β-cell function in 1250 non-diabetic Asian participants.
