Size-Effect Enriched Phase Diagram in -Type Skutterudite Superconductor IrSb.

Inorg Chem

January 2025

Beijing National Laboratory for Condensed Matter Physics, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100190, China.

Pressurized IrX (X = P and As) stands out as the sole -type superconductors among dozens of filled-skutterudites that are primarily characterized by -type charge carriers. The emergence of superconductivity is proposed to be intimately related to the inharmonic rattling phonons originating from the filled atoms. Here, we explore the impact of the size effect of the rattling atoms by substituting X with Sb, whose radius is 30 and 17% larger than those of P and As, respectively.

The monolithic fabrication of passive, nonlinear, and active functionalities on a single chip is highly desired in the wake of the development and commercialization of integrated photonic platforms. However, the co-integration of diverse functionalities has been challenging as each platform is optimized for specific applications, typically requiring different structures and fabrication flows. In this article, we report on a monolithic and complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor CMOS-compatible hybrid wafer-scale photonics platform that is suitable for linear, nonlinear, and active photonics based on moderate confinement 0.

The Voyager 2 flyby of Uranus in 1986 revealed an unusually oblique and off-centred magnetic field. This single in situ measurement has been the basis of our interpretation of Uranus's magnetosphere as the canonical extreme magnetosphere of the solar system; with inexplicably intense electron radiation belts and a severely plasma-depleted magnetosphere. However, the role of external forcing by the solar wind has rarely been considered in explaining these observations.

Evaluation of charge summing correction in CdTe-based photon-counting detectors for breast CT: performance metrics and image quality.

J Med Imaging (Bellingham)

January 2025

U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Office of Science and Engineering Labs, Division of Imaging, Diagnostics, and Software Reliability, Silver Spring, Maryland, United States.

Purpose: We evaluate the impact of charge summing correction on a cadmium telluride (CdTe)-based photon-counting detector in breast computed tomography (CT).

Approach: We employ a custom-built laboratory benchtop system using the X-THOR FX30 0.75-mm CdTe detector (Varex Imaging, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States) with a pixel pitch of 0.

Purpose: Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) stage is defined by the visual appearance of the vascular-avascular border, which reflects a spectrum of pathologic neurovascular tissue (NVT). Previous work demonstrated that the thickness of the ridge lesion, measured using OCT, corresponds to higher clinical diagnosis of stage. This study evaluates whether the volume of anomalous NVT (ANVTV), defined as abnormal tissue protruding from the regular contour of the retina, can be measured automatically using deep learning to develop quantitative OCT-based biomarkers in ROP.
