Objectives: GCA is a granulomatous vasculitis affecting large vessels, leading to intimal occlusion accompanied by the accumulation of myofibroblasts. Histopathologically, GCA is characterized by destruction of the tunica media and hypertrophy of the intima with invasion of activated CD4+ T cells, macrophages and multinucleated giant cells (MNGCs). Despite these well-defined histopathological features, the molecular pathology of GCA has largely remained elusive.

The Charles procedure (CP) is a potentially devastating treatment; however, in cases of an end stage of untreated or improperly treated lymphedema, it is the ultimate surgical therapy. As a life-saving solution, it quickly relieves patients with giant, hypertrophic extremities, mostly in ambulation and hygiene maintenance. Nevertheless, long-term results may disappoint both doctors and patients, who struggle with social stigma, the need for lifelong compression, massive lymphoedema in the distal parts of the feet, badly fitting shoes, excessive skin fibrosis, severe keratinization of skin-grafted surfaces, periodic lymphorrhea from the resected areas, or acute and chronic inflammation.

Background: A nonadjustable state of the programmable shunt valve is a rare phenomenon. This case report aims to explore the cause of pressure adjustment dysfunction in a programmable shunt valve in a middle cranial fossa arachnoid cyst-peritoneal shunt patient and to underscore this dysfunction as an indicator of shunt valve obstruction.

Case Presentation: A child with a ruptured giant arachnoid cyst in the left middle cranial fossa presented with acute intracranial hypertension following head trauma.

Root knot nematodes (RKNs) induce hypertrophy and cell proliferation within the vascular cylinders of host plants, leading to the formation of giant cells (GCs) that are enlarged, multinucleate cells with high metabolic activity. These GCs are formed through repeated karyokinesis without cytokinesis and are accompanied by significant changes in cytoskeleton organization. In this study, two microtubule-binding protein genes, CsMAP65-2 and CsMAP65-3, are upregulated in cucumber roots upon RKNs infection, specifically at 3, 96, and 120 hpi.

Acromegaly and gigantism are rare diseases, usually caused by a growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma, recently renamed GH-secreting pituitary neuroendocrine tumor (GH-PitNET). The transsphenoidal approach is the mainstay of treatment, although a non-negligible number of patients require a multimodal approach with neo-adjuvant or adjuvant medical and radiation therapy. Understanding the clinical complexity of acromegaly and gigantism is essential to improve treatment safety and success.
