To report a rare case of severe oligoasthenoteratozoospermia which seems to be associated with long-term topical povidone-iodine (PVP-I) therapy. A 45-year-old man with secondary infertility was diagnosed with mild asthenospermia before undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). A repeat sperm analysis (SA) on June 30, 2022, after three months of using compound PVP-I liniment to treat fungal infection under a fingernail and toenail, revealed severe oligoasthenoteratozoospermia.

Topic: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine whether adding preoperative topical antibiotics to povidone-iodine (PVI) offers any additional benefit over PVI alone in reducing conjunctival bacterial flora, thereby potentially lowering the risk of postoperative endophthalmitis. The participants included 1423 eyes undergoing elective intraocular surgeries (e.g.

Purpose Of Review: Post-injection endophthalmitis (PIE) is the most concerning complication that accompanies intravitreal injections. This review discusses the recent literature in endophthalmitis prophylaxis including types of antisepsis, the use of topical antibiotics, methods of anesthesia, masking, and office-based versus operating room-based injections.
Recent Findings: Povidone iodine (PI) remains the gold standard for PIE prophylaxis.

Objective: To compare endophthalmitis rates after cataract extraction in patients with different preoperative prophylaxis: double povidone-iodine preparation with topical antibiotics versus a control group.
Methods: All cases of postoperative endophthalmitis over the last 17 years were reviewed. Incidence rates of endophthalmitis for all cataract surgeries (current procedural terminology codes 66982 and 66984) performed by 26 surgeons were calculated.

Purpose: To evaluate whether the effectiveness of topical antiseptic solutions in restoring skin continuity solutions is related to their antimicrobial action or to their action in maintaining moisture, in dogs undergoing elective surgeries.
Methods: Forty dogs, 20 males and 20 females, underwent orchiectomy and oophorectomy, respectively. Thereafter, the animals were allocated into four groups (n = 5) and treated with different topical solutions: polyhexanide 0.
