Background: In recent years, laparoscopic hernia repair, i.e. transabdominal pre-peritoneal and totally extraperitoneal repairs have been considered the method of choice, especially for recurrent hernias after open repair or bilateral inguinal hernias.

Background: Minimal invasive inguinal hernia repair is conducted using among others the laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) procedure or the extended totally extraperitoneal (eTEP) approach. Robotic-assisted TAPP (R-TAPP) has recently been introduced as an alternative to laparoscopic TAPP and TEP, and a growing number of robotic-assisted procedures are performed worldwide. The present study was conducted to determine the risk of chronic pain and recurrence associated with the two methods.

The extent to which pancreatic fat infiltration is clinically important remains unclear.

Lower uterine segment thickness to predict uterine rupture: a secondary analysis of PRISMA cluster randomized trial.

Am J Obstet Gynecol MFM

December 2024

Centre de Recherche du CHU de Québec-Université Laval, Québec, Canada (Bujold, Dubé, Girard, and Chaillet); Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, Université Laval, Québec, Canada (Bujold and Chaillet).

Background: Third-trimester lower uterine segment thickness (LUST) is associated with uterine rupture during trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC) but threshold values vary according to the approach used (lower values with vaginal ultrasound, higher values with abdominal ultrasound).

Objective: To estimate the optimal LUST cut-off value combining vaginal and abdominal ultrasound to predict uterine rupture during TOLAC.

Study Design: We performed a secondary analysis of PRISMA cluster randomized trial including women with a single previous cesarean who underwent ultrasound LUST measurement at 34-38 weeks using the thinnest measurement obtained by combining transvaginal and transabdominal measurements.

Background: Metastatic gastric tumors are rare and malignant melanoma, breast cancer, lung cancer, and esophageal cancer are common as primary lesions. On the other hand, renal cell carcinoma is easy to metastasize hematogenously to the whole body. However, metastasis to the stomach is rare and the detailed treatment of gastric metastasis is not mentioned.
