Purpose: The underlying mechanism why segmentectomy has demonstrated the non-inferiority to lobectomy in several randomized trials remains unclear. Computed tomography (CT)-measured pulmonary artery (PA) enlargement reflects PA pressure and predicts the prognosis of certain respiratory diseases. We compared the preoperative and postoperative PA diameter to the ascending aorta diameter (PA/A) ratio, investigating its impact on right ventricular function in lung resection.

Carcinoid tumors are slow-growing tumors noticed in the tracheobronchial tree and pulmonary parenchyma. Generally, these tumors are slow growing with minimum risk of distant metastasis, but the atypical type of carcinoids has greater malignant potential with lower survival rates. The primary and most effective treatment for all pulmonary carcinoid tumors is surgical resection if no contraindications to surgery exist.

This study aims to evaluate the prognostic significance of various laboratory parameters in predicting the length of hospital stay and mortality among pediatric patients undergoing lobectomy and pneumonectomy for infectious or noninfectious diseases. This study was conducted by retrospective data analysis of 59 pediatric patients who underwent lobectomy and pneumonectomy due to variable diseases at the department of chest surgery. Pediatric patients diagnosed with variable diseases and who underwent lobectomy or pneumonectomy, patients who were hospitalized during the study period and underwent surgical intervention, and patients who had at least one laboratory parameter recorded before surgery were included in the study.

Background: Immuno-chemotherapy has demonstrated significant anti-tumor effects in patients with resectable nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Additionally, for patients initially diagnosed with unresectable stage III NSCLC, induction immuno-chemotherapy may achieve tumor downstaging, enabling conversion to resectable disease allowing for by R0 resection. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of induction immuno-chemotherapy followed by conversion surgery in unresectable stage III NSCLC.
