BACKGROUND The management of unstable atlas fractures remains a subject of ongoing debate and controversy. The conservative surgical treatment commonly involves fusion, resulting in severe loss of cervical spine mobility, and a large incisions and extensive tissue dissection are required. We aim to introduce a novel concept and surgical approach for treating atlas fracture, one that involves minimizing trauma while maintaining mobility of the upper cervical spine without resorting to fusion.

In this work, the fracture mechanism of winding carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRPs) based on epoxy matrices reinforced by polysulfone film was investigated. Two types of polymer matrices were used: epoxy oligomer (EO) cured by iso-methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride (iso-MTHPA), and EO-modified polysulfone (PSU) with active diluent furfuryl glycidyl ether (FGE) cured by iso-MTHPA. At the winding stage, the reinforcing film was placed in the middle layer of the CFRP.

Vitamin D affects bone metabolism and calcium-phosphate metabolism. Its deficiency leads to bone mineralization disorders and is the cause of abnormal skeletal development from fetal life to the period of completed skeletal growth. In later periods of life, vitamin D deficiency leads to bone metabolism disorders, i.

: Bone and mineral disease (BMD) is a prevalent complication of advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD). The risk of fractures can be assessed via dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and quantitative computed tomography (QCT). This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of two imaging modalities in identifying bone mineral status in individuals with pre-dialysis chronic renal disease and to assess their correlation with bone turnover markers.

Distal tibia fractures are high-energy injuries characterized by a mismatch between standard plate designs and the patient's specific anatomical bone structure, which can lead to severe soft tissue damage. Recent advancements have focused on the development of customized metal plates using three-dimensional (3D) printing technology. However, 3D-printed metal plates using titanium alloys have not incorporated a locking system due to the brittleness of these alloys.
