Introduction: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture with concomitant damage to the medial collateral ligament (MCL) is frequently seen following knee trauma. Non-surgical treatment of the MCL lesion generally results in good internal healing, but surgery may be necessary depending on the location of the lesion, the severity, and the laxity.

Objectives: To determine outcomes following ACL reconstruction surgery when there is concomitant damage to the MCL compared to isolated ACL lesions, as assessed through a prospective, multi-center cohort study in France.

Background: The literature presents conflicting findings regarding outcomes after pediatric anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with various autograft options, reflecting a lack of consensus on the standard of practice. Fragility analyses may assist in evaluating the statistical robustness of these studies.

Purpose: To evaluate the statistical fragility of comparative studies in pediatric ACLR through the fragility index (FI) and fragility quotient (FQ), as well as qualitative factors such as outcome type, outcome significance, and patients lost to follow-up.

Acoustic, Mechanical, and Thermal Characterization of Polyvinyl Acetate (PVA)-Based Wood Composites Reinforced with Beech and Oak Wood Fibers.

Polymers (Basel)

January 2025

Research Laboratory for Sustainable Development and Health, Department of Applied Physics, Faculty of Sciences and Technics, Cadi Ayyad University, Marrakesh 40000, Morocco.

Considering the growing need for developing ecological materials, this study investigates the acoustic, mechanical, and thermal properties of wood composites reinforced with beech or oak wood fibres. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed a complex network of interconnected pores within the composite materials, with varying pore sizes contributing to the material's overall properties. Acoustic characterization was conducted using a two-microphone impedance tube.

The assessment of research performance is widely seen as a vital tool in upholding the highest standards of quality, with selection and competition believed to drive progress. Academic institutions need to take critical decisions on hiring and promotion, while facing external pressure by also being subject to research assessment. Here we present an outlook on research assessment for career progression with specific focus on promotion to full professorship, based on 314 policies from 190 academic institutions and 218 policies from 58 government agencies, covering 32 countries in the Global North and 89 countries in the Global South.

Ten coordination compounds, [Cu(L)Cl] (), [Cu(L)NO] (), [Cu(L)Cl] (C3), [Cu(L)NO] (), [Cu(L)Cl] (), [Cu(L)NO] (), [Cu(L)NO] (), [Cu(L)Cl] (), [Cu(L)Cl] (), and [Cu(L)NO] (), containing pyridine derivatives of -methoxyphenyl-thiosemicarbazones were synthesized and characterized. The molecular structure of four compounds was investigated using single crystal X-ray diffraction. Spectral analysis techniques such as FT-IR, H NMR, C NMR, elemental analysis, and molar conductivity were used for all the synthesized compounds.
