Background: The World Health Organization has identified the rapidly growing prevalence of obesity as one of today's serious health problems. Various surgical interventions categorized collectively as bariatric surgery now play an ever-increasing important role as the only known effective treatment for severe obesity. Laparoscopic gastric bypass is currently the most frequent bariatric surgical procedure performed.

We retrospectively studied the epidemiological, clinical, histological and evolutive aspects of vertebral tuberculosis diagnosed in all consecutive patients recruited in 2 Parisian hospitals between January 1990 and July 1997. The diagnosis relied on a vertebral involvement associated with evidence of tuberculosis (culture of local puncture yielded Mycobacterium tuberculosis) or presumption of tuberculosis (evidence of other tuberculous focus, histological data, good outcome under specific treatment). Unlabelled: THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY was to evaluate interstitial laser photocoagulation for local destruction of osteoid osteoma, with computed tomographic (CT) guidance.
Material And Methods: 28 patients (age range from 5 to 48 years) with presumed osteoid osteoma were treated with CT-guided interstitial laser photocoagulation of the nidus. A high power semiconductor diode laser (805 nm) with a 400 microns optical fiber was used.
