The current study aimed to detect the mutagenic impacts of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), which is produced by Aspergillus group fungi, via a high-plant genotoxicity test. Different durations of treatment (3 h, 6 h, and 12 h) were used to treat the Vicia faba root tips with varying concentrations of Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) following the approved protocol for plant assays published by the International Program on Chemical Safety (IPCS) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The data obtained indicated that AFB1 not only has the ability to induce various alterations in the process of mitosis, ranging from increasing to decreasing mitotic and phase indices but also leads to many mitotic aberrations.

LiCoPO and LiNiPO phosphate pigments have colorations very close to the primary colors of the subtractive system: magenta and yellow, respectively. These two pigments are therefore of great interest in a variety of applications, including e-reader devices. However, the need to reduce their crystallite size in order to formulate stable electrophoretic inks has revealed that aggressive milling results in significant color changes, particularly for cobalt-based pigments.

In this study, novel anion photo-responsive supramolecular hydrogels based on cysteine-silver sol (CSS) and iodate anions (IO) were prepared. The peculiarities of the self-assembly process of gel formation in the dark and under visible-light exposure were studied using a complex of modern physico-chemical methods of analysis, including viscosimetry, UV spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, electrophoretic light scattering, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In the dark phase, the formation of weak snot-like gels takes place in a quite narrow IO ion concentration range.

Molluscicidal assessment of certain toxicants: Impact on biochemical alterations and electrophoretic protein patterns in Massylaea vermiculata (O. F. Müller, 1774) snails.

Environ Toxicol Pharmacol

December 2024

Department of Agricultural Zoology and Nematology, Faculty of Agriculture, Al-Azhar University, Assiut Branch, Assiut 71524, Egypt. Electronic address:

Massylaea vermiculata snails are a significant gastropod pest in Egypt, threatening agriculture. Due to increasing concerns about conventional pesticides, it is imperative to find effective alternatives that are less harmful. We assessed the molluscicidal activity of abamectin, methoxyfenozide, and spinosad using the leaf-dipping method in vitro and the effect of LC of these compounds on biochemical aspects and protein electrophoresis.

MYB family transcription factors (TFs) play crucial roles in plant development, metabolism, and responses to various stresses. However, whether MYB TFs are involved in regulating fatty acid biosynthesis in seeds remains largely elusive. Here, we demonstrated that transgenic Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) plants overexpressing MYB73 exhibit altered FATTY ACID ELONGATION1 (FAE1) expression, seed oil content, and seed fatty acid composition.
