Link & Otto, an endemic plant of Mexico, is widely distributed in the central area of the country, mainly in the states of Tlaxcala, Puebla, and the State of Mexico. Ethnobotanical studies in different communities of these states have demonstrated that it is primarily used to treat diabetes and mental illnesses, such as "los nervios" (nerves) and "el ansia" (anxiety); these terms are used in traditional medicine, but it is accepted that they refer to anxiety disorders. This study aimed to validate the traditional use of aerial parts of Link & Otto in treating these illnesses.

Poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO)-based polymer electrolytes have promising applications in all-solid-state lithium metal batteries. However, their wide range of practical applications is severely limited by their relatively low room temperature lithium ion conductivity and narrow electrochemical window. In this paper, based on the ability of spontaneous polarization of ferroelectric materials to generate polarization field under applied electric field and the characteristics of Metal-Organic-Frameworks (MOFs) materials with regular adjustable pore structure, a Nano material combining ferroelectric materials and MOF (NUS-6(Hf)-MOF) was first proposed to be added to PEO polymer electrolyte as a filler.

Objective: The aims of this study were (i) to describe the early spontaneous movements in 3-to 5-month-old infants in groups of infants born to mothers with GDM and/or PE, (ii) to compare them, and (iii) to analyze the differences between infants with these risk factors and typically developing infants born to mothers without GDM and/or PE and other risk factors.
Methods: This cohort study included 255 infants in 4 groups: (i) 96 infants born to mothers with GDM, (ii) 78 infants born to mothers with PE, (iii) 31 infants born to mothers with GDM and PE, and (iv) 50 typically developing infants. Early spontaneous movements, including not only fidgety movements but also concurrent movement and postural patterns, were assessed using the General Movements Assessment (GMA), which determines the Motor Optimality Score-Revised (MOS-R).

Ferroelectric nematic (N) liquid crystals combine liquid-like fluidity and orientational order of conventional nematics with macroscopic electric polarization comparable in magnitude to solid-state ferroelectric materials. Here, we present a systematic study of twenty-seven homologous materials with various fluorination patterns, giving new insight into the molecular origins of spontaneous polar ordering in fluid ferroelectric nematics. Beyond our initial expectations, we find the highest stability of the N phase to be in materials with specific fluorination patterns rather than the maximal fluorination, which might be expected based on simple models.

The aim of this study was to investigate the locational distribution and potential mechanisms of retinal hemorrhages in newborns using fundus photography. A retrospective analysis of 98 consecutive newborns with retinal hemorrhages in at least one eye and 30 control newborns without retinal hemorrhages after uneventful delivery was conducted. Retinal hemorrhages were diagnosed and characterized using fundus photography and indirect ophthalmoscopy.
