Aseptic abscesses syndrome is a rare but increasingly recognized disease that falls within the spectrum of autoinflammatory disorders. Here, we describe the case of a patient who presented with abdominal pain and fever, along with multiple abdominal and extra-abdominal abscesses, in the absence of underlying hematologic, autoimmune, infectious, or neoplastic conditions. Initially, the patient responded to glucocorticoids, but experienced several flares upon discontinuation, leading to the initiation of treatment with a TNFα inhibitor.

Background: Salmonella enterica serotype Choleraesuis infections usually cause self-limited gastrointestinal diseases. Extra-abdominal infections are often secondary to bacteremia in immunocompromised individuals and are relatively rare in immunocompetent hosts.
Case Presentation: A 65-year-old Caucasian female initially presented to the thoracic surgery clinic due to a poorly healing wound on her chest.

Objectives: Studies have shown the feasibility of short-course antimicrobials in complicated intra-abdominal infection (CIAI) following source control procedure (SCP). This study aimed to compare postoperative complication rates in short-course (5 days) and conventional (7-10 days) duration groups after antimicrobial therapy.
Methods: This was a single-centre, open-labelled, randomised controlled trial conducted in Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry, India, from July 2017 to December 2019 on patients with CIAI.

Introduction: The American Association for the Surgery of Trauma Colon Organ Injury Scale (OIS) was updated in 2020 to include a separate OIS for penetrating colon injuries and included imaging criteria. In this multicenter study, we describe the contemporary management and outcomes of penetrating colon injuries and hypothesize that the 2020 OIS system correlates with operative management, complications, and outcomes.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of patients presenting to 12 Level 1 trauma centers between 2016 and 2020 with penetrating colon injuries and Abbreviated Injury Scale score of <3 in other body regions.
