Objective: To explore the potential effects and mechanisms of Liang-Ge-San (LGS) for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) through network pharmacology analysis and to verify LGS activity through biological experiments.
Methods: The key ingredients of LGS and related targets were obtained from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform. ARDS-related targets were selected from GeneCards and DisGeNET databases.

Background: Reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV), a member of the family Retroviridae, is a hot area of research, and a previous study showed that exosomes purified from REV-positive semen were not blocked by REV-specific neutralizing antibodies and established productive infections.
Methods: To further verify the infectivity of exosomes from REV-infected cells, we isolated and purified exosomes from REV-infected DF-1 cells and identified them using Western blot and a transmission electron microscope. We then inoculated 7-day-old embryonated eggs, 1-day-old chicks and 23-week-old hens with and without antibody treatment.

The complement system is an evolutionarily conserved arm of innate immunity, which forms one of the first lines of host response to pathogens and assists in the clearance of debris. A deficiency in key activators/amplifiers of the cascade results in recurrent infection, whereas a deficiency in regulating the cascade predisposes to accelerated organ failure, as observed in colitis and transplant rejection. Given that there are over 60 proteins in this system, it has become an attractive target for immunotherapeutics, many of which are United States Food and Drug Administration-approved or in multiple phase 2/3 clinical trials.

The crosstalk between breast cancer cells and tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) greatly contributes to tumor progression and immunosuppression. In this work, cat eye syndrome chromosome region candidate 2 (CECR2) is identified to overexpress in breast cancer patients, which can recognize v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A (RelA) and activate nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) to release colony stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1). Pharmacological inhibition of CECR2 by the bromodomain competitor (Bromosporine, Bro) can downregulate CSF-1 to inhibit M2 type TAMs.

Monitoring Marek's disease (MD) vaccination is routinely done by evaluating the load of MD vaccine in the feather pulp (FP) between 7 and 10 days of age. However, attempts in our laboratory to detect a novel CVI-LTR vaccine in the FP samples from commercial flocks failed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the most suitable tissue and age to monitor CVI-LTR vaccination.
