Background: To investigate the antibiofilm effect and mechanism of the silver nanowire (AgNW)-modified glass ionomer cement (GIC) against multi-species oral biofilm, and to examine the mechanical and biochemical properties of this novel GIC material.
Methods: Conventional GIC was incorporated with different concentrations of AgNW and silver nanoparticles (AgNP). Multi-species biofilms of Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sobrinus, Lactobacillus fermentum, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus were cultured for 72 h on GIC specimens.

Background: It seems that oxidative stress is involved in the occurrence and progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Considering the antioxidant features of Ellagic acid (EA), this study was designed to assess the effect of EA on some biochemical factors in patients with NAFLD.
Methods: In this clinical trial, 44 patients were selected based on including criteria and randomly received 180 mg of EA per day (n = 22) or placebo (n = 22) for 8 weeks.

Enhancing the local substrate concentration is a crucial strategy in nature for facilitating the proximity of two enzymes. The substrate of the first enzyme is transformed into a by-product that travels to the active site of the second enzyme without external diffusion, then transformed into a product and eventually expelled from the complex. In an effort to optimize the antimicrobial properties of myeloperoxidase from Rhodopirellula baltica (RbMPO), we created a library of fused chimeras between a glucose oxidase (GOx) and RbMPO so that HO could be continuously perfused in the vicinity RbMPO, enabling the production of HOCl or HOSCN, well-known antimicrobial agents.
