Background And Aims: The fundamental mechanisms involved in the genesis and progression of heart failure are not clearly understood. The present study was conducted to analyze the cardiac mitochondrial involvement in heart failure, the possible parallelism between cardiac and skeletal muscle and if there is a link between clinical symptoms and mitochondrial damage.
Methods: Left ventricle and pectoral biopsies were obtained from patients with heart failure (n: 21) and patients with inter-auricular communication as the unique diagnosis for surgery (n: 6).

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is defined by the presence of arterial and venous thromboses, recurrent fetal death, cerebrovascular accidents, hemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia and various other manifestations in different organs. APS is a clinical entity that can appear commonly alongside systemic lupus erithemathous on it can occur as a primary disease. The syndrome is defined by the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies in serum, a group of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM, IgA or an mixture of them) that adopt an hexagonal configuration when they are incubated at 37grades C.

This study examines the origin of cells in the interauricular granular band (iagb) in the cerebellum of the frog tadpole during early stages of development by means of histological and autoradiographic methods. Premetamorphic bullfrog tadpoles were exposed to multiple doses of 3H-thymidine (10 microCi/g body weight per exposure) at developmental stages ranging from 1 week to 1 year and were killed at either 6 or 12 months of age. The autoradiographic data were examined to determine the time when cells of the iagb were generated.

In order to know the value of a peculiar right ventricular repolarization in the diagnosis of atrial septal defect. We studied-one hundred patients with main right bundle branch block and atrial septal defect confirmed by cardiac catheterization. The peculiar right ventricular repolarization consist in a straight and long S-T segment (longer than 160 msc) that form a 60 degrees or greater angle with the ascendent branch of the T wave.
