Highly sensitive micellar spectrofluorimetric method (Method I) has been developed and validated for the determination of diphenylpyraline HCl in pharmaceutical tablets and in plasma. Sodium dodecyl sulfate improves the intensity of fluorescence of diphenylpyraline at 286 nm at pH 5 that allow its determination in plasma at nano-level. the mean percent recovery ± S.

Due to the difficulty of monitoring trace levels of cyproheptadine (CYP) residues in complicated biological matrices, specific adsorption materials for the preconcentration and clean-up of CYP are indispensable. In this work, CYP was extracted from urine using dummy molecularly imprinted SPE (DMISPE) to avoid leakage of the imprinting molecules during the desorption phase. For synthesis of DMISPE, azatadine (AZA) was employed as the dummy template, methacrylic acid (MAA) as the monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the cross-linker, 2,2'-azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) (AIBN) as the initiator, and dichloromethane as the porogen solvent.

Simultaneous estimation of phenylpropanolamine HCl, guaiphenesin and diphenylpyraline HCl in syrups by LC.

J Pharm Biomed Anal

December 2000

Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis and Drugs Testing Laboratory, J.S.S. College of Pharmacy, Ootacamund, Tamilnadu, India.

A simple, precise and accurate HPLC method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of phenyl-propanolamine HCl, guaiphenesin and diphenylpyraline HCl in syrup. The method was carried out on a Shimpak C8 column with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile-triethylamine (pH adjusted to 3.5 using orthophosphoric acid; 0.

Thirteen antihistaminic drugs and their analogues are tested for their extraction by headspace solid-phase microextraction from human whole blood and urine. Their determination is made by using capillary gas chromatography with flame ionization detection. Relatively high recoveries are obtained for terodiline, diphenhydramine, diphenylpyraline, and orphenadrine in urine; but the recoveries in blood extracts are 4-51 times lower than those in urine extracts for all drugs.
