The cytotoxicity and antibacterial activities of crude extracts from the leaves of Sida rhombifolia were investigated. The ethyl acetate extract showed potent cytotoxicity with LC50 values (5.41 ppm) comparable to the reference standard, gallic acid. All the extracts showed weak antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative test organisms.

Three new terpenoid derivatives (1,6,7)-hydrobenzosydowic acid (), (1 ,6,7)-hydrobenzosydowic acid (), and (7 ,10)-11-dehydroxy-iso-10-hydroxysydowic acid (), along with the known analogues ()-2-(1-(4-nitrobenzoyl)pyrrolidine-2-carboxamido)benzoic acid () and trihydroxybutyl ester of 4-carboxydiorcinol () were isolated from the deep-sea-derived fungus DFFSCS007. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis. Compound with a nitrobenzene group was isolated from nature for the first time.

Metal nanomaterials, such as copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles (NPs), have shown significant promise in cancer therapy due to their ability to induce apoptosis. 5-Fluorouracil (5-Fu) enhances the cytotoxic effect against cervical cancer, working synergistically with CuO NPs to maximize the therapeutic impact while potentially reducing the 5-Fu's systemic side effects.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a consequence of the ability of microorganisms, especially bacteria, to develop resistance against conventional antibiotics, hampering the treatment of common infections, is recognized as one of the most imperative health threats of this century. Antibacterial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) has emerged as a promising alternative strategy, utilizing photosensitizers activated by light to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) that kill pathogens without inducing resistance. In this work, we synthesized silica nanoparticles (NPs) of different sizes (20 nm, 80 nm, and 250 nm) functionalized with the photosensitizer Rose Bengal (RB) and a gluconamide ligand, which targets Gram-negative bacteria, to assess their potential in aPDT.
