PMA1-containing extracellular vesicles of triggers immune responses and colitis progression.

Gut Microbes

December 2025

Department of Oncology, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China.

() exhibits aberrant changes in patients with colitis, and it has been reported to dominate the colonic mucosal immune response. Here, we found that PMA1 expression was significantly increased in from patients with IBD compared to that in healthy controls. A Crispr-Cas9-based fungal strain editing system was then used to knock out PMA1 expression in .

Complete Breakup of Liquids into Ultrafine Droplets by Grid Turbulence.

Nano Lett

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China.

Ultrafine droplets are crucial in materials processing and nanotechnology, with applications in nanoparticle preparation, water evaporation, nanodrug delivery, nanocoating, among numerous others. While the potential of turbulent gas flow to enhance liquid breakup is acknowledged, constructing turbulence-driven atomizers for ultrafine droplets remains challenging. Herein, we report the innovation of grid-turbulence atomization (GTA), which employs a rotating mesh to deliver liquid and an air knife to spray ultrafine droplets.

As humans age, they experience deformity and a decrease in their bone strength, such brittleness in the bones ultimately lead to bone fracture. Magnetic field exposure combined with physical exercise may be useful in mitigating age-related bone loss by improving the canalicular fluid motion within the bone's lacuno-canalicular system (LCS). Nevertheless, an adequate amount of fluid induced shear stress is necessary for the bone mechano-transduction and solute transport in the case of brittle bone diseases.

Laser surface alloying of Fe, Si, and C on aluminium is demonstrated using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser as the source of energy. The fundamental wavelength of the laser beam was 1064 nm with an output energy of 100 mJ and a pulse duration of 10 ns. The exposure was conducted in repetitive mode with a frequency rate of 1 Hz.

Boosting flexible laser-induced graphene supercapacitors performance through double pass laser processing.

iScience

January 2025

Instituto de Sistemas Optoelectrónicos y Microtecnología, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Av. Complutense 30, 28040 Madrid, Spain.

This study proposes a simple and cost-effective approach to enhance the performance of supercapacitors based on laser-induced graphene (LIG). The use of two consecutive laser passes using the same CO engraver on polyimide film led to the expansion in the size of the pores, the increase in the graphitization degree, and the densification of the produced material. These changes in the morphology and chemical structure of the LIG impacted positively its electrochemical performance when it was used as an electrode for supercapacitors.
