Intervertebral disc disease is the most common spinal cord-related disease in dogs, caused by disc material protrusion or extrusion that compresses the spinal cord, leading to clinical symptoms. Diagnosis involves identifying radiographic signs such as intervertebral disc space narrowing, increased opacity of the intervertebral foramen, spondylosis deformans, and magnetic resonance imaging findings like spinal cord compression and lesions, alongside clinical symptoms and neurological examination findings. Intervertebral disc space narrowing on radiographs is the most common finding in intervertebral disc extrusion.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of large-channel endoscope-assisted posterior lumbar interbody fusion (Endo-PLIF), minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS-TLIF), and open posterior lumbar interbody fusion in treatment of degenerative diseases of the lumbar spine.

Methods: Data of 110 patients with degenerative diseases of the lumbar spine were analyzed retrospectively: 31 patients underwent Endo-PLIF, 36 patients underwent MIS-TLIF, and 43 patients underwent modified TLIF. We compared operative duration, intraoperative blood loss, latent blood loss, intraoperative radiation dose, visual analog scale score, Oswestry Disability Index, anterior protrusion angle of the intervertebral space, postoperative ambulatory time, postoperative duration of hospital stay, and complications among the 3 groups.

The aim was to investigate the independent risk factors for postoperative recurrence of lumbar disc herniation treated by percutaneous intervertebral laminectomy, and to establish a nomogram prediction model accordingly. Data on patients with lumbar disc herniation were collected from January 2018 to December 2023 in our hospital, and single-factor and multifactorial logistic regression analyses were used to determine the independent risk factors for postoperative recurrence of lumbar disc herniation and establish the corresponding nomogram. The receiver operating characteristic curves were plotted the area under the curve was calculated, and the calibration curves and decision curves were plotted to evaluate the model performance.
