Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are a crucial component in the tumor microenvironment (TME) of peritoneal metastasis (PM), where they contribute to tumor progression and metastasis via secretion of interleukin-6 (IL-6). Here, we investigated the role of IL-6 in PM of gastric cancer (GC) and assessed whether anti-IL-6 receptor antibody (anti-IL-6R Ab) could inhibit PM of GC. We conducted immunohistochemical analysis of IL-6 and α-smooth muscle (α-SMA) expressions in clinical samples of GC and PM, and investigated the interactions between CAFs and GC cells in vitro.

Intestinal ischemic injury damages the epithelial barrier predisposes patients to life-threatening sepsis unless that barrier is rapidly restored. There is an age-dependency of intestinal recovery in that neonates are the most susceptible to succumb to disease of the intestinal barrier versus older patients. We have developed a pig model that demonstrates age-dependent failure of intestinal barrier restitution in neonatal pigs which can be rescued by the direct application of juvenile pig mucosal tissue, but the mechanisms of rescue remain undefined.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTIGIT and PVRIG are immune checkpoints co-expressed on activated T and NK cells, contributing to tumor immune evasion. Simultaneous blockade of these pathways may enhance therapeutic efficacy, positioning them as promising dual targets for cancer immunotherapy. This study aimed to develop a bispecific antibody (BsAb) to co-target TIGIT and PVRIG.

Background: Tandem C2 domains, nuclear (TC2N) is a protein that has been characterized to contain C2A domain, C2B domain, and a short C-terminus with a WHXL motif. In previous studies, we have uncovered the oncogenic role and mechanisms of TC2N in lung cancer: TC2N achieves this by inhibiting the p53 signaling pathway and activating the NF-kappaB signaling pathway. Beyond that, its precise function in tumorigenesis is not fully understood.

Background: Acute rejection (AR) is one of the significant factors contributing to poor prognosis in patients following kidney transplantation. Neutrophils are the main cause of early host-induced tissue injury. This paper intends to investigate the possible mechanisms of neutrophil involvement in acute rejection in renal transplantation.
