Background: Intra-pancreatic fat deposition (IPFD) is linked to metabolic and pancreatic diseases. MRI, while precise, is not cost-effective for routine IPFD screening, highlighting the need for accessible biomarkers. This study aims to analyze the relationships among serum lipid profiles, lipoprotein ratios, and IPFD, with a focus on sex differences.

Purpose Of The Study: The main purpose of this study is to assess serum lipid levels in patients diagnosed with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). The secondary objective is to explore the association between these lipid levels, namely serum cholesterol, serum triglycerides, serum low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and serum high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and the development of POAG.

Background: Glaucoma is a major contributor to global blindness, with elevated intraocular pressure as a key risk factor.

Background: Universal lipid screening in childhood for early detection and treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia is under discussion, but will also detect children with multifactorial dyslipidemia. Results from population-based studies can support the design of public health strategies. As few previous studies considered pubertal changes in serum lipid levels, we examined tracking of serum lipids from prepuberty to young adulthood in a population-based cohort.

Despite its notoriously mild phenotype, the dystrophin-deficient mdx mouse is the most common model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). By mimicking a human DMD-associated metabolic comorbidity, hyperlipidemia, in mdx mice by inactivating the apolipoprotein E gene (mdx-ApoE) we previously reported severe myofiber damage exacerbation via histology with large fibro-fatty infiltrates and phenotype humanization with ambulation dysfunction when fed a cholesterol- and triglyceride-rich Western diet (mdx-ApoE). Herein, we performed comparative lipidomic and metabolomic analyses of muscle, liver and serum samples from mdx and mdx-ApoE mice using solution and high-resolution-magic angle spinning (HR-MAS) H-NMR spectroscopy.

Relation of skinfold thickness with the serum lipids, glucose and blood pressure among Indian sedentary office workers.

J Health Popul Nutr

December 2024

Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, Manipal College of Health Professions, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, 576104, India.

Background: Serum glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) are established cardiovascular disease (CVD) markers, however accessibility to these markers is less in individuals from low-middle income countries. The non-invasive CVD risk marker especially skinfold measured fat percentages are less explored for its relevance with established serum biochemistry markers.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 70 sedentary office workers (aged 30-40 years) who were healthy.
