The use of aqueous alkali for the titration of esterolytic activity when the esters are dissolved in alcoholic solutions, results in an error due to changes in the ionization of the buffer. This is corrected by titrating with alkali in the same solvent as the substrate. Alcohols and other substances which change the dielectric strength of water modify the rate of hydrolysis of BAEE(1) and TSAME by trypsin to an extent proportionate to their effect on the dielectric strength. The reaction rate increases with diminished dielectric strength and vice versa. At low concentrations of substance there seems to be no specific effect other than that derived of the variation in dielectric strength. At higher concentrations, the enzyme might be denatured. In addition, it is probable that specific effects of each substance might intervene. The Coulombic and thermic energies of activation were calculated for the two esters in various solvents. The plot of the logarithm of rate constant vs. reciprocal of dielectric constant yields a straight line with positive slope. This behavior is similar to that of a non-enzymatic positive ion-dipole reaction. Trypsin reacts like a positive ion. The possible influence of the dielectric strength on the regulation of the equilibria involved in the interconversion of the various forms of trypsin in solution (active, inactive, denatured) is discussed.

Multilayer ceramic capacitor as a vital core-component for various applications is always in the spotlight. Next-generation electrical and electronic systems elaborate further requirements of multilayer ceramic capacitors in terms of higher energy storage capabilities, better stabilities, environmental-friendly lead-free, etc., where these major obstacles may restrict each other.

Inorganic semiconductors based on heavy pnictogen cations (Sb and Bi) have gained significant attention as potential nontoxic and stable alternatives to lead-halide perovskites for solar cell applications. A limitation of these novel materials, which is being increasingly commonly found, is carrier localization, which substantially reduces mobilities and diffusion lengths. Herein, CuSbSe is investigated and discovered to have delocalized free carriers, as shown through optical pump terahertz probe spectroscopy and temperature-dependent mobility measurements.

Whey protein (WP) is a highly nutritious animal protein, but its functional properties are sensitive to environmental factors, such as temperature, pH, and ionic strength, which prevent its applications in various food systems. The conjugation of proteins with polysaccharides via the Maillard reaction is an efficient method to improve their functionalities. The purpose of this study was to use radio frequency (RF) heating technology to assist the covalent coupling of WP and gum Arabic (GA) for improving their grafting efficiency and functional properties.

We report the pressure-temperature (-) phase diagram, the origin of the subglass dynamics, and the crystallization kinetics of the biobased polyester poly(ethylene 2,5-furanoate) (PEF), through dielectric spectroscopy (DS) measurements performed as a function of temperature and pressure. The phase diagram comprises four different "phases"; glass, quenched melt, crystalline, and normal melt. The cold crystallization temperature, , increases linearly with pressure (according to the Clausius-Clapeyron equation) as / ∼ 240 K·GPa and is accompanied by a small change in specific volume (Δ = 0.
