Flexor tendon injuries are a commonly encountered hand problem caused by trauma. They can be associated with fractures or neurovascular injury or occur in isolation. Thorough physical examination is an integral aspect of management of these injuries to identify concomitant pathology and to facilitate preoperative planning and timing of surgery to improve outcome.

Foreign body ingestion is a problem that commonly presents in almost all otolaryngologic practices. However, less commonly do those foreign bodies perforate, migrate to, and impact the soft tissue of the neck while nearly invading the carotid sheath that accommodates the major neurovascular supply of the head. We report the case of a patient who had radiologic evidence of foreign body impaction and required neck exploration through an external approach to retrieve a crab leg embedded far within the deep cervical fascia.

A 33-year-old male patient developed distal femur chronic osteomyelitis with massive bone loss after an open grade-3b fracture. Following several failed treatments to eradicate infection, a tibial turn-up procedure was performed to provide a stable and functional stump. To avoid neurovascular problems, the popliteal vessels and sciatic nerve were moved medially, and the flap was rotated externally to decrease the collapse.

Iron is one of the crucial elements for CNS development and function and its deficiency (ID) is the most common worldwide nutrient deficit in the world. Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in pregnant women and infants is a worldwide health problem due to its high prevalence and its irreversible long-lasting effects on brain development. Even with iron supplementation, IDA during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding can result in irreversible cognitive, motor, and behavioral impairments.
