Purpose: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in patients with sequelae of poliomyelitis is a surgical challenge due to muscle weakness, bone deformities or post-polio syndrome (PPS). Few data exist to determine the factors contributing to poor functional results. This study aimed: (1) to describe a cohort of patients with poliomyelitis sequelae who underwent TKA; (2) to examine risk factors for poor functional outcome.

Introduction: The survival of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in patients with poliomyelitis remains a debated topic due to the high recurrence of postoperative genu recurvatum. This study aims to report the long-term survival of TKA in patients with poliomyelitis, using data from the Italian Register of Prosthetic Implantology.
Materials And Methods: A registry-based population study was conducted, utilizing data from the Emilia Romagna orthopedic arthroplasty implants registry (RIPO - Registro Implantologia Protesica Ortopedica).

Introduction: The results of primary total knee replacement (TKR) using hinge implants performed in the Indian population with post-polio residual paresis (PPRP) are unknown. The purpose of this study was to report the outcome of primary rotating hinge TKR in Indian patients with PPRP at a minimum follow-up of 12 months.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical and radiological records of six patients treated with primary rotating hinge TKR.
