Artificially induced haploidy is lethal in vertebrates, although it is useful for genetic screening and genome editing due to its single set of genomes. Haploid embryonic stem (ES) cell lines in mammals contribute to genetic studies and the production of gametes derived from haploid ES cells. In fish breeding, doubled haploids (DHs) induced by artificially induced gynogenesis are used to generate isogenic gametes for cloning purposes.

Objectives: Septic arthritis after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a rare but potentially devastating complication. The imaging findings associated with such infections are not well-described or quantified. Nursing activity recognition has immense importance in the development of smart healthcare management and is an extremely challenging area of research in human activity recognition. The main reasons are an extreme class-imbalance problem and intra-class variability depending on both the subject and the recipient. In this paper, we apply a unique two-step feature extraction, coupled with an intermediate feature 'Angle' and a new feature called mean min max sum to render the features robust against intra-class variation.

Ventricular assist device (VAD) and cardiac transplant patients experience significant strain on their physical and mental wellbeing postoperatively. Mental health and substance use disorders (MHDs and SUDs) have substantial effects on the quality of life and compliance of transplant and VAD patients. In this study, we compare and characterize MHDs and SUDs between VAD and cardiac allograft patients and transplant list patients with and without VADs.
