Problem: A high-fat diet (HFD) predisposes animals to glucose intolerance, dyslipidemia and testicular oxidative stress, and impairs sperm production in rats. Quercetin is a flavonoid with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and lipolytic actions and is a potential supplement to combat the oxidative stress caused by HFD and its harmful effects on reproduction. This study evaluated the effects of quercetin supplementation at doses of 10 and 20 mg/day on reproductive parameters and testicular oxidative stress in Wistar rats fed a diet rich in pork fat and fructose.

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a chronic liver disease associated with metabolic syndrome. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are essential signaling mediators containing functional biomolecules. EVs are secreted from various cell types, and recent studies have shown that mesenchymal stem cell-derived EVs have therapeutic potential against immune and metabolic diseases.

Lipid metabolism is essential to insect life as insects use lipids for their development, reproduction, flight, diapause, and a wide range of other functions. The central organ for insect lipid metabolism is the fat body, which is analogous to mammalian adipose tissue and liver, albeit less structured. Various other systems including the midgut, brain, and neural organs also contribute functionally to insect lipid metabolism.

Periparturient dairy cows exhibit intense lipolysis driven by reduced DMI, enhanced energy needs, and the loss of adipose tissue (AT) insulin sensitivity. Extended periods of low insulin sensitivity and negative energy balance induce lipolysis dysregulation, leading to increased disease susceptibility and poor lactation performance. Chromium (Cr) supplementation improves systemic insulin sensitivity, whereas palmitic acid (PA) increases energy availability for milk production.
