The glomerular filtration barrier (GFB) has a unique spatial structure, including porous capillary endothelial cells, glomerular basal membrane (GBM) and highly specialized podocytes. This special structure is essential for the hemofiltration process of nephrons. GBM is the central meshwork structure of GFB formed by the assembly and fusion of various extracellular matrix (ECM) macromolecules, such as laminins and collagens, which undergo isoform transformation and maturation that may require precise regulation by metalloproteinases.

Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (aVEGF-TMA) was recently discovered in patients with malignant tumors. Four aVEGF-TMA patients diagnosed by renal biopsy between 2018 and 2022 were identified, and all were females aged 30-62 years (mean age, 47 years). Two patients with malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumors who received sunitinib were analyzed.

Objective: Type1Screen offers islet autoantibody testing to Australians with a family history of type 1 diabetes (T1D) with the dual aims of preventing diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and enabling use of disease-modifying therapy. We describe screening and monitoring outcomes 2 years after implementing in-home capillary blood spot sampling.
Research Design And Methods: Data from 2,064 participants who registered between July 2022 and June 2024 were analyzed: 1,507 and 557 chose blood spot and venipuncture screening respectively.
Whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) microresonators are typically studied for surface (bio)chemical sensing, mainly relying on small refractive index changes occurring within a nanometer range from their walls surface. This high sensitivity, reaching up to 10 refractive index unit (RIU, ∼2.5 nm/RIU and measured at a femtometer resolution) leads to broad ranges of applications, especially for biosensing purposes through the monitoring of molecular binding events.
