Two clonal immortalized neurons designated SN6.1b and SN6.2a were isolated by limiting dilution from a mouse embryonic septal cholinergic neuronal hybrid cell line SN6 (Hammond et al., 1986). In the serum-containing medium without extra differentiating agents, one-third of SN6.1b cells stably exhibited a morphology of differentiated neurons with extensive elaborate neurites, while a majority of SN6.2a cells, along with the parent cell line SN6, were round in shape with poorly branched short processes. Neurochemical studies showed that both clones synthesized choline acetyltransferase (ChAT), dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and glutamate. Immunocytochemically, they expressed a number of neuronal antigens, such as 200-kDa neurofilament protein, neuron-specific enolase, microtubule-associated protein 2, tau protein, tubulin, neural cell adhesion molecule, Thy-1.2, saxitoxin-binding sodium channel protein, ChAT, tyrosine hydroxylase, serotonin, and glutamate. The coexistence of cholinergic, catecholaminergic, serotonergic, and glutamatergic neurotransmitter markers in the clonal hybrid septal neurons that express a variety of immunocytochemical properties of differentiated neurons suggests that embryonic septal cholinergic neurons are potentially multiphenotypic with respect to neurotransmitter synthesis.

Introduction: The Efferent Vestibular System (EVS) originates in brainstem Efferent Vestibular Nuclei (EVN) and modifies afferent vestibular signals at their source, in peripheral vestibular organs. Recent evidence suggests that EVS is also involved in the development of motion sickness symptoms, including vertigo and nausea, but the underlying mechanism is unknown. One possible link between EVN and motion sickness symptoms is through the neuropeptide calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP).

Mulch films allow for efficient crop production, yet their low recovery after use causes severe microplastics (MPs) pollution in agricultural soils. MPs in agricultural environments undergo complex ageing processes, which can alter their interactions with coexisting neonicotinoids and result in unpredictable ecological risks. Here, polyethylene (PE) and polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT), typical mulch films, were chosen for the preparation of PE-MPs and PBAT-MPs.

The greater wax moth Galleria mellonella is a cosmopolitan pest of hives of the western honey bee Apis mellifera, where it remains exposed to varroicides applied by beekeepers in past decades as pest management chemicals for control of Varroa destructor, a devastating ectoparasite of bees. The prolonged presence of coumaphos residues, an organophosphate varroicide, in beeswax may be responsible for current levels of tolerance exhibited by G. mellonella, a non-target species that infests beehives.
