Post-traumatic pituitary stalk transection syndrome (PSTS) is an extremely rare cause of combined pituitary hormone deficiency (CPHD), affecting approximately 9 per 100,000 cases of traumatic brain injury. In contrast, pituitary stalk interruption syndrome (PSIS) is also a rare cause of CPHD. Importantly, these conditions are often confused due to their similar names and resembling findings on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Background And Objectives: Craniopharyngiomas originate from the pituitary stalk (PS) and extend along the pituitary-hypothalamic axis. Peripheral retroinfundibular craniopharyngiomas, particularly, may have worse surgery outcomes than other types. This study aims to investigate the advantage of using "one-and-a-half" interdural transcavernous pituitary transposition/rotation to dissect the tumor from the residual stalk and hypophyseal portal system for this subtype of craniopharyngioma.

This paper studied the arachnoid of the chiasmatic cistern (CC) and the methods for increasing the exposure of the CC from an endoscopic perspective. Eight anatomical specimens with vascular injection were used for endoscopic endonasal dissection.
