Severe oral mucositis is a major cause of a low quality of life in patients; however, the therapeutic effect of traditional treatments is insufficient. Therefore, we designed a carbopol gel based on rebamipide nanocrystals (REB NCs) and gum arabic (GA-REB@NP), and investigated its efficacy in accelerating wound healing in a hamster model of oral mucositis. REB NCs were prepared by bead milling, and GA- REB@NP were prepared by incorporating REB NCs into a carbopol gel.

Background: Hematological malignancies disturb the blood, lymph nodes, and bone marrow. Taking medications for treating opportunistic infections (OIs) in these individuals may enhance the risk of medication interaction as well as adverse drug reactions.
Objective: This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of nondrug interventions in reducing OIs among patients with hematological cancers.

Background: The increasing prevalence of invasive fungal infections in immuno-compromised patients is a considerable cause of morbidity and mortality. With the rapid emergence of antifungal resistance and an inadequate pipeline of new therapies, novel treatment strategies are now urgently required.
Methods: The antifungal activity of the alginate oligosaccharide OligoG in conjunction with nystatin was tested against a range of spp.

Introduction: Oral candidiasis is one of the most common opportunistic infection in HIV/AIDS patient and it is caused by species. The low absolute CD4+T-lymphocyte count has traditionally been cited as the greatest risk factor for the development of Oral Candidiasis. The aim of this study was to identify species isolated from the oral cavity of HIV/AIDS patients, to determine their in vitro antifungal susceptibility and to investigate the possible risk factors associated with oral candidiasis.

Superficial fungal infections are among the most commonly managed skin problems by general practitioners. Although evidence shows combination antifungal/corticosteroid topicals are more expensive and less effective than single-agent antifungals, practitioners continue to prescribe combination agents. We examined current prescription trends of 2 combination antifungal/corticosteroid medications, Lotrisone and Mycolog-II.
