Recovery of phosphate from swine wastewater is significant for alleviating eutrophication in aquatic ecosystems and addressing the increasing scarcity of phosphorus resources. In this study, a method for phosphate recovery from swine wastewater using corn carbon as an additive and non-dynamic magnesium metal self-corrosion was studied. The effects of reaction time, C:Mg mass ratio, stirring rate, and aeration rate on phosphate recovery were discussed, and eight experimental models were explored.

Transitioning towards a more plant-based diet can promote sustainable food consumption while simultaneously addressing environmental and health-related issues. Integrated nudging strategies are effective in promoting healthy eating behaviours. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of an integrated nudging intervention to promote plant-based meals and determine its effect on promoting sustainable food consumption behaviour.

Enzymatic degradation of plastic pollution offers a promising environmentally friendly waste management strategy, however, suitable biocatalysts must be screened and developed. Traditional screening methods using soluble or solubilised polymers do not necessarily identify enzymes that are effective against solid or crystalline polymers. This study presents a simple, time-saving and cost-effective method for identifying microorganisms and enzymes capable of degrading polymeric films.

The spent black tea extract was utilized in order to synthesize the spent black tea silver nanoparticles (SBT-AgNPs). Various parameters were tested to yield the best production of SBT-AgNPs. The characterization was conducted by X-Ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy, Zeta potential and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX).

Food waste (FW) threatens food security, environmental sustainability, and economic efficiency, with about one-third of global food production lost or wasted. Schools play a crucial role in addressing FW, representing lost resources and missed educational opportunities. The present research assessed three interventions to reduce plate waste (PW) in Rezekne City schools, namely (S1) a plate waste tracker, (S2) an awareness and educational campaign, and (S3) organizational changes, including larger plates, extended lunch breaks, and teacher supervision.
