Objective: The prevalence of Thyroid-Cancer (TC) has increased worldwide and an association with metabolic and cardio-vascular disorders has been reported. Moreover, an increasing percentage of patients are currently diagnosed incidentally through non-thyroid related imaging for other clinical conditions. Our aim was to assess the prevalence of Thyroid-Related (TD) versus Incidental (ID) pre-surgery reasons leading to TC diagnosis and to compare the two groups in terms of clinical characteristics, size and severity of TC at presentation and rate of non-thyroid cancers and cardiovascular/metabolic comorbidities.

Background: Breast conserving surgery (BCS) is a standard treatment for breast cancer. Intraoperative frozen section analysis (FSA) is widely used for margin assessment in BCS. In addition, FSA-assisted excisional biopsy is still commonly practiced in many developing countries.

By mapping the spatial distributions of metabolites and -glycans in heterogeneous colorectal cancer tissues, we can elucidate cancer-associated metabolic and -glycan changes. Herein, we combine mass spectrometry imaging-based metabolomics and -glycomics to characterize the spatially resolved reprogramming of metabolites and -glycans in colorectal cancer tissues.

Background: Intracerebral amyloid β (Aβ) accumulation is considered the initial observable event in the pathological process of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Efficient screening for amyloid pathology is critical for identifying patients for early treatment. This study developed machine learning models to classify positron emission tomography (PET) Aβ-positivity in participants with preclinical and prodromal AD using data accessible to primary care physicians.

Cytologically indeterminate thyroid nodules (Bethesda class III or IV) carry a 10-40% risk of malignancy. Diagnostic lobectomies are frequently performed but negative surgeries incur unnecessary costs on the healthcare system, potential complications, and negative impacts on quality of life. Molecular tests (MTs) have been developed to reduce unnecessary surgeries.
