Removal of the rib and adjacent cartilage is a common step for exposure of the recipient chest vessels in free-flap breast reconstructions. However, this adds both short- and long-term morbidity to the procedure. We describe our experience in avoiding rib removal in microvascular breast reconstruction.

Palliative care is a very important part of medicine, aimed at ensuring an improvement in quality of life and a reduction in distressing symptoms in patients with serious, incurable, progressive diseases. The issues of the accessibility and quality of these services should be a focus for health policymakers and researchers, although it is acknowledged that a significant portion of the public has not heard about this service. For this reason, it is important to investigate the experience of the accessibility and quality of palliative care services in primary healthcare facilities.

In 2012, the Department of Visceral Surgery of the Lausanne University Hospital CHUV implemented a dedicated high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) outpatient clinic for surveillance and follow-up purposes. This 10-year longitudinal study analyzed 537 patients (2214 visits) using a structured screening protocol. Dysplastic lesions were detected in 49% of patients, predominantly low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSILs, 74%).

Aging older adults experience psychological anxiety along with declines in physical function, which decreases the level of active aging and physical activity participation. The purpose of this study was to identify the moderating effect of self-efficacy on active aging to improve the occupational participation of community-dwelling older adults. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among older adults in Gwangju and Jeollanamdo using the snowball sampling method.

Rationale And Objective: Globally, the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a rapid introduction of virtual care delivery via telephone or videoconference. The rapid advancements in e-health technology facilitated options for virtual care, including asynchronous data transfer in virtual clinic models and patient-facing smartphone applications for communications and self-care. However, the clinical benefits of virtual consultation have not been consistently demonstrated in all facets of kidney care, and the adoption of this innovation alters workflows and health professionals' perceptions of care delivery.
