Many studies on the adaptability of Tibetan sheep to hypoxia have been reported, but little attention has been paid to the reproduction of Tibetan sheep living at an altitude of more than 4000 m. In this study, the ovaries of Alpine Merino sheep (AM) living in middle-high altitude areas (2500 m) and the ovaries of Gangba Tibetan sheep (GB) and Huoba Tibetan sheep (HB) living in ultra-high altitude areas (4400 m or more) were collected. Through morphological, transcriptomics and metabolomics, the effects of ultra-high altitude areas on Tibetan sheep ovarian development and the molecular mechanism of sheep's adaptability to ultra-high altitude environment were explored.

Background: 3,3'-diindolylmethane (DIM) is a phytonutrient derived from cruciferous vegetables that is an often-used supplement in the complementary and alternative medicine space. The most common goal for providers when recommending DIM to their patients is to alter estrogen metabolism, yet research into DIM's effect on the estrogen profile is lacking in the published literature. The objective of this study was to comprehensively evaluate DIM's effect on the urinary estrogen profile.

Research Question: How does the intracrine action of progestagens, oestrogens, androgens and corticosteroids affect endometrial tissue progression and function?
Design: In this prospective observational study, 76 patients (<50 years old, no uterine pathologies and at least one failed IVF cycle) undergoing endometrial biopsy collection for endometrial evaluation between 2018 and 2021 were included. The concentrations of 11 steroid metabolites (cortisone, cortisol, progesterone, oestrone, 2-methoxyestrone, oestradiol, oestriol, testosterone, androstenedione, 17α-hydroxyprogesterone and 17-hydroxypregnenolone) were measured by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry in the endometrial tissue samples collected during the mid-secretory phase. Endometrial dating and reproductive outcomes (relative to the next good-quality fresh or frozen embryo transfer after the biopsy) were analysed in relation to endometrial steroid concentrations using Barnard's test; correlations between metabolite concentrations were measured by Pearson's correlation co-efficient.

Estrogens produced by the ovary play diverse roles in controlling physiological changes in the function of the female reproductive system. Although estradiol acts through classical nuclear receptors, its metabolites (EMs) act by alternative pathways. It has been postulated that EMs act through paracrine-autocrine pathways to regulate key processes involved in normal follicular growth, corpus luteum (CL) development, function, and regression.

The human fecal and oral microbiome may play a role in the etiology of breast cancer through modulation of endogenous estrogen metabolism. This study aimed to investigate associations of circulating estrogens and estrogen metabolites with the fecal and oral microbiome in postmenopausal African women. A total of 117 women with fecal (N = 110) and oral (N = 114) microbiome data measured by 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and estrogens and estrogen metabolites data measured by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry were included.
