The success of pollen-pistil interaction in Mauritia flexuosa (buriti), a palm adapted to the humid ecosystems, 'veredas', within the Cerrado, is influenced by intrinsic and environmental factors. Its supra-annual flowering, dioecy, and adverse climate conditions pose challenges for fertilization, therefore information on floral biology is essential. This study aimed to ascertain stigma receptivity, and elucidate structural, cytochemical, and ultrastructural aspects of the pollen-pistil relationship.

Excessive copper induces lignin biosynthesis in the leaves and roots of two citrus species: Physiological, metabolomic and anatomical aspects.

Ecotoxicol Environ Saf

January 2025

College of Resources and Environment, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Fuzhou 350002, China; Key Lab of Soil Ecosystem Health and Regulation, Fujian Province University (Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University), Fuzhou 350002, China. Electronic address:

Excessive copper (Cu) of rhizosphere inhibited the growth and development of citrus seedlings. Lignin deposition on the cell wall promotes plant Cu tolerance. However, the lignin biosynthesis in citrus leaves and roots that respond to Cu toxicity is not fully understood.

A Supramolecular Deferoxamine-Crisaborole Nanoparticle Targets Ferroptosis, Inflammation, and Oxidative Stress in the Treatment of Retinal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury.

Nano Lett

January 2025

Department of Ophthalmology, Eye & ENT Hospital, State Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymers, Fudan University, Shanghai, 200031, China.

Retinal ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is a major cause of vision loss worldwide, with ferroptosis, oxidative stress, and inflammation playing key roles in its pathogenesis. Currently, treatments targeting multiple aspects of this condition are limited. This study introduces a supramolecular nanoparticle combining the phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor crisaborole and the ferroptosis inhibitor deferoxamine to address these pathological processes.
