Since the World Health Organization declared the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic as an international concern of public health emergency in the early 2020, several strategies have been initiated in many countries to prevent healthcare services breakdown and collapse of healthcare structures. The most important strategy was the increased testing, diagnosis, isolation, contact tracing to identify, quarantine and test close contacts. In this context, finding a rapid, reliable and affordable tool for COVID-19 screening was the main challenge to address the pandemic.

Canine heartworm disease causes significant pulmonary abnormalities, even in asymptomatic cases. This study aimed to compare the chest radiographs of cases infected with with those of heartworm-negative dogs. Fifteen animals treated at a private veterinary clinic in the municipality of Maricá, Rio de Janeiro, underwent chest radiography, regardless of their serological status, for the presence of antigen, and none of them used preventive measures.

Background: Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are susceptible to infectious diseases owing to various immunosuppressive treatments and disease characteristics. Meningococcal infections progress rapidly with a high incidence of severe complications and mortality; therefore, meningococcal vaccination is needed. However, there is limited evidence regarding the immunity and immunogenicity of patients with SLE.

A young man presented with complaints of angina on exertion and dyspnoea on exertion for the last 3 months. On evaluation, he was found to have a cystic mass in the left ventricle with severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction. A cardiac MRI revealed a multiloculated mass in the left ventricle with multiple septa with internal enhancement and CT coronary angiography revealed compression of a coronary artery by the cystic mass.
