Real-time monitoring of sweat using wearable devices faces challenges such as limited adhesion, mechanical flexibility, and accurate detection. In this work, we present a stretchable, adhesive, bilayer hydrogel-based patch designed for continuous monitoring of sweat pH and glucose levels using AI-assisted smartphones. The patch is composed of a bottom PVA hydrogel layer functionalized with colorimetric reagents and glucose oxidase enzyme, while the top PVA-sucrose layer enhances skin adhesion and protects against air moisture.

Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) have demonstrated their therapeutic potential as safe and effective drug delivery systems for nucleic acids during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, one of the main challenges during technical CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) development is their long-term stability at temperatures of 2-8 °C or higher, which may be improved by the removal of water by lyophilization. In this study, we identified lyo-/cryo-protectants for freeze-dried mRNA-LNP formulations beyond conventional excipients such as sucrose and trehalose as T-modifiers using polyA as a surrogate.

BDNF signaling in the dorsolateral striatum (DLS) is part of an endogenous pathway that protects against the development of alcohol use disorder (AUD). Dysregulation of BDNF levels in the cortex or dysfunction of BDNF/TrkB signaling in the DLS results in the escalation of alcohol drinking and compulsive alcohol use.

Background: α thalassemia/mental retardation syndrome X-linked (ATRX) serves as a part of the sucrose nonfermenting 2 (SNF2) chromatin-remodeling complex. In interphase, ATRX localizes to pericentromeric heterochromatin, contributing to DNA double-strand break repair, DNA replication, and telomere maintenance. During mitosis, most ATRX proteins are removed from chromosomal arms, leaving a pool near the centromere region in mammalian cells, which is critical for accurate chromosome congression and sister chromatid cohesion protection.

Elevated dopamine (DA) levels in urine denote neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer. Saccharide-derived carbon dots (CDs) were applied to assay DA detection in simulated urine (SU) while delineating the effects of graphene defect density on electrocatalytic activity. CDs were hydrothermally synthesized to vary graphene defect densities using sucrose, raffinose, and palatinose, depositing them onto glassy carbon electrodes (GCEs).
