This study evaluated the gut microbiota and meat quality traits in 11 healthy female cattle from the Huaral region of Peru, including 5 Angus, 3 Braunvieh, and 3 F1 Simmental × Braunvieh. All cattle were 18 months old and maintained on a consistent lifelong diet. Meat quality traits, including loin area, fat thickness, muscle depth, and marbling, were assessed in vivo using ultrasonography.

Background: Anxiety and depression are two of the main psychological disorders that affect thousands of people in the world, including university students. This research is justified because it seeks to reevaluate, compare and confirm the psychometric properties and establish the sociodemographic profile of the Anxiety and Depression Disorders Symptom Scale in Peruvian university students. The main objective of this study was to determine the evidence of psychometric properties, and the sociodemographic profile, of the Symptom Scale for Anxiety and Depression Disorders in university students from the region of Piura, Peru.

Selected phenotypes of dried maca () hypocotyls and supercritical CO extract (USPlus) of saw palmetto () were used to determine their targeted, cytotoxic action in prostate cancer cells. Fingerprinting by HPLC-MS and PCA analysis showed compositional differences in glucosinolates, amides, macamides, and other alkaloids, which varied based on the color and the size of hypocotyls. These phytochemical differences translated into a higher antioxidant potential of red maca than black maca samples.

Hura crepitans (Euphorbiaceae), is widespread in the Amazon rainforest and on plantations in sub-Saharan Africa. This tree produces an irritating milky latex rich in secondary metabolites, notably daphnane-type diterpenes and cerebrosides. Previous studies have shown that huratoxin, the main daphnane in the latex, significantly and selectively inhibited the growth of colorectal cancer cells through a unique mechanism involving the activation of PKCζ.
