This paper presents the preparation of the parental experimental alloy, featuring a standard composition of TiYZrFeNiMn, via the vacuum induction melting technique. Subsequently, the TiYZrFeNiMn alloy, with an addition of 2 wt% Ni, underwent mechanical ball milling to yield a TiFe-based composite for experimental purposes. The results of the experimental tests indicate that the composite alloy's phase composition comprises the TiFe primary phase, with a minor quantity of ZrMn phase segregated on the surface of the primary TiFe phase, as well as Ni phase.

The synthesis of an iron tailings-based geopolymer with synergistic electromagnetic wave consumption property.

Environ Res

January 2025

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Fuzhou University, Fuzhou, Fujian, 350108, China; Zijin School of Geology and Mining, Fuzhou University, Fuzhou, Fujian, 350108, China; Fujian Key Laboratory of Green Extraction and High-value Utilization of Energy Metals, Fuzhou University, Fuzhou, Fujian 350108, China.

In this study, combination of wave absorption materials with different loss mechanisms are added into iron ore tailings-blast furnace slag (IOT-BFS) based geopolymers. The employed materials are hollow glass microsphere (HGM), carbon nanotubes (CNT) and carbonyl iron powder (CIP). Microstructures of the geopolymers are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and concrete porous structure analyzer.

TRIOL attenuates intracerebral hemorrhage injury by bidirectionally modulating microglia- and neuron-mediated hematoma clearance.

Redox Biol

December 2024

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, 510080, China. Electronic address:

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) represents the most severe subtype of stroke, and the lack of effective clinical pharmacotherapies poses a substantial threat to human health. Hematoma plays a crucial role in determining the prognosis of ICH patients by causing primary mechanical extrusion, followed by secondary brain injuries, such as cerebral edema, iron-mediated oxidative stress, and inflammation resulting from its degradation products. 5α-androst-3β,5α,6β-triol (TRIOL) is a neuroprotective steroid currently undergoing phase II clinical trial for acute ischemic stroke with anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties.

Early missed abortion is defined as a pregnancy of ≤ 12 weeks in which there is a cessation of life in the developing embryo or fetus, leading to its retention within the uterine cavity without being spontaneously expelled promptly. This condition is commonly observed and significantly impacts human reproductive health. This study aimed to identify key genes related to ferroptosis that could serve as novel biomarkers for early missed abortion.
