Immobilizing different enzymes on membranes can result in biocatalytic active membranes with a self-cleaning capacity toward a complex mixture of foulants. The membrane modification can reduce fouling and enhance filtration performance. Protease, lipase, and amylase were immobilized on poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) microfiltration membranes using a polydopamine coating in a one-step method.

Aims And Background: The efficacy of self-assembling peptide P11-4 in combination with calcium-phosphate-based remineralization agents in remineralizing caries-like lesions in primary enamel was evaluated using a 21-day pH cycling experiment by Vickers microhardness [Vickers hardness number (VHN)] and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
Materials And Methods: A total of 120 primary enamel samples were made to undergo a demineralization cycle to produce caries-like lesions. They were divided into six groups, namely negative control (NC), positive control (P11-4), and four interventional groups in which each of the following calcium-phosphate-based agents were used in combination with P11-4-calcium sucrose phosphate (CSP), bioactive glass (BG), casein phosphopeptides, and casein phosphopeptides with fluoride.

Rare earth (RE)-doped CaS phosphors have been widely used as light-emitting components in various fields. Nevertheless, the application of nanosized CaS particles is still significantly limited by their poor water resistance and weak luminescence. Herein, a lattice-matching strategy is developed by growing an inert shell of cubic NaYF phase on the CaS luminescent core.
