Effective monitoring of veterinary drug residues in food is essential for legislation compliance and food safety, yet remains challenging due to low concentrations and complex matrices. This study introduced a miniaturized 96-well electromembrane extraction (EME) technique for pre-concentration and isolation 80 prohibited/restricted veterinary drugs from honey samples. Three liquid membranes were developed and characterized: V1 ("V" for veterinary), a mixture of 2-undecanone and 0.

The abundance of hyaluronic acid (HA) in human tissues attracts its thorough research in tissue regenerating scaffolds and 3D bioprintable hydrogel preparation. Though methacrylation of HA can lead to photo-crosslinkable hydrogels, the catalyst has toxicity concerns, and the hydrogel is not suitable for creating stable complex 3D structures using extrusion 3D bioprinting. In this study, a dual crosslinking on methacrylated HA is introduced, using cysteamine-grafted HA and varying concentrations of 2-hydroxy ethyl acrylate.

Compared to the laboratory preparation of biochar, there is less research on the adsorption of antibiotics by industrial production of biochar in water. In this study, three types of industrial production biochar (peanut shell biochar, sludge biochar, and perishable waste biochar) were selected, and their adsorption performance for tetracycline in composite-polluted water was systematically studied. The results indicated that the Freundlich equation could well fit the adsorption isotherms of the three types of biochar for tetracycline.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores the use of calcium phosphate nanoparticles (CPNP) to enhance the effectiveness of the antibiotic tetracycline (Tet) against tetracycline-resistant bacteria, demonstrating its superior bactericidal properties compared to the standard tetracycline.
  • Experimental methods showed that Tet-CPNP exhibits a higher binding affinity to bacterial ribosomes and disrupts their structure, leading to the degradation of the ribosomes and blocking protein synthesis.
  • The findings suggest that Tet-CPNP could potentially overcome the challenges posed by tetracycline-resistant bacteria, revitalizing the clinical use of this established antibiotic.

Ningxia Key Laboratory of Clinical and Pathogenic Microbiology, The School of Basic Medical Sciences, Ningxia Medical University, Yinchuan, China.

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious infectious disease that endangers human health, and TB becomes more difficult in eradiation due to its multidrug resistance (MDR). The objective of this research was to identify novel targets for treating TB.

Methods: A 2-fold serial dilution method was used to determine minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of compound M6 against ().
