Background: Early symptoms of cognitive impairment are frequently undetected. The Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative System Preparedness (DAC-SP) Early Detection program implemented a digital cognitive assessment (DCA) in primary care and other non-specialty settings to increase the rate of detection of cognitive impairment.
Methods: The DAC-SP Early Detection program was initiated in 2021 in seven healthcare systems across six countries.
The prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders (ADRD) is rising, and primary care providers (PCPs) will increasingly play a role in its detection. We developed an evidence-based intervention to facilitate cognitive evaluation in primary care. We then implemented it as a set of web-based trainings which were combined with specific tools embedded in the electronic health record (EHR) for PCPs to use in their practices.

The full approval by the FDA of the first disease-modifying therapy for Alzheimer's disease has significantly impacted the treatment paradigm of the disease. Safe administration of lecanemab requires a greater level of care and monitoring and increases the care-burden on patients, their care-team, and the health system. Prior to the approval of lecanemab, a significant shortage of cognitive specialists already existed.

Background: The 'Associate Psychological Practitioner' (APP) is an innovative new role that expands the psychological workforce and addresses the rising demand for mental health services in England, yet the impact of this role on NHS workforce capacity has yet to be modelled.
Aim: We modelled the impact of the APP role in Primary Care in terms of additional capacity to provide mental health care and the impact on General Practitioner (GP) capacity within the sector.
Method: Workforce experts of the NHS Workforce Repository and Planning Tool (WRaPT) team used a modelling tool to determine future state scenarios of APPs working across all Primary Care Networks (PCNs) within a region and the associated change on the baseline workforce.
