Maximal expiratory flows were obtained in 40 patients with chronic non-specific pulmonary diseases displaying mild obstruction of air flows and in 35 clinically healthy subjects with normal ventilatory functions and similar anthropometric characteristics. The flows for the two groups and their standardized values by referring to FVC, TLC, H and H3 were compared. The u-criterion and V% were used as measures for the diagnostic value of the flows and their standardized values. In the patients with mild airflow obstruction the highest u-criterion and the lowest V% were obtained by standardizing the maximal expiratory flows through referring to H3. This is an indication that this method of standardization is to be preferred to other methods in the functional diagnostics of mild obstructive disorders.

Background: Vocal therapy, such as singing training, is an increasingly popular pulmonary rehabilitation program that has improved respiratory muscle status in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, variations in singing treatment protocols have led to inconsistent clinical outcomes.
Objective: This study aims to explore the content of vocalization training for patients with COPD by observing differences in respiratory muscle activation across different vocalization tasks.

Background: Aerobic exercises (AEs) have gained much interest in managing fibromyalgia (FM). This trial aimed to find out how AEs affect women with FM in terms of lung function, chest expansion, dyspnea, exercise capacity, and quality of life.
Methods: Eighty FM-diagnosed women were allocated randomly into 2 equal-sized groups.

Background: Evidence for a relation between residential greenspace and respiratory health is scarce and controversial.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore the association between residential greenspace and its interaction with particulate matter (PM) and risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung function.
Methods: A total of 3,759 adults were recruited from Wenzhou in this study.

We sought to evaluate the effects of a 12-week pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) program on lung function, mechanics, as well as pulmonary and systemic inflammation in a cohort of 33 individuals with moderate to severe post-COVID-19. : The pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) program employed a combination of aerobic and resistance exercises. Thirty minutes of treadmill training at 75% of the maximum heart rate, combined with 30 min resistance training consisting of 75% of one maximum repetition, three times a week throughout 12 weeks.

Background: In patients with COPD, preventive treatment with acetazolamide reduces adverse health effects during altitude travel. We investigated whether preventive acetazolamide treatment modifies exercise performance in COPD patients going to high altitude.
Methods: In this randomised, double-blind trial, lowlanders with COPD, forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV) 40-80% predicted, were assigned to acetazolamide (375 mg per 24 h) or placebo treatment starting 24 h before ascent and while staying at 3100 m.
